Membership
Membership in the Merrimac United Methodist Church
Membership is making a commitment to seeing that this church body will remain a viable ministry for God in this community.
Membership is sharing one’s Spiritual Gifts to enhance the spreading of the Gospel of God’s Grace and Mercy in the Merrimac UMC parish ministries.
Membership is about affirming one’s Christian faith in the Triune God: God the father, Jesus Christ – LORD and Savior, and the Holy Spirit.
Membership is about pledging to support the church with one’s presence at worship, one’s financial tithes and offerings, one’s prayers, one’s gifts for ministry, and in giving witness to one’s faith.
Membership is about being an active part of a connectional church: Greater Sauk Circuit, Coulee District, Wisconsin Annual Conference, and the Global United Methodist Church – membership over 14 million.
Membership is not:
- The ticket to salvation – “by grace are you saved by faith… not by works, less any person boast.” Ephesians 2: 8-9.
- An entitlement to dictate ministry plans – members and active friends of the church participate in leadership roles, ministry teams, and use of church property.
- The only way to get pastoral attention – Pastor serves all who express a need or interest: members, friends, people in the parish community and the circuit.
If you are interested in becoming a member of our church, let the pastor know. She will guide you through the Methodist History, the Connectional Relationships, the Mission and Vision of the Merrimac UMC and the membership vows of faith. All are welcomed who profess the Christian faith and are willing to live out their faith in action as a part of the Merrimac UMC faith community.
